Daytime Outpatient Surgery Center is located in the Southwest Orthopedics Associates building, but is a separate business entity.
Preparing For Your Surgery
Your physician may order you to have a Medical Clearance appointment. If so, please schedule as soon as possible. Your surgery cannot be scheduled until we receive the Medical Clearance back from your physician.
The scheduling coordinator will contact you to discuss any fees due, insurance benefits, and schedule your surgery date.
A nurse will contact you 1-2 days prior to your procedure to review your health history, give you instructions, and confirm your arrival time. Please provide a list of all current medications and dosages to the nurse.
Please allow for some flexibility in the time of your procedure. Your arrival time may be adjusted due to unplanned events.
Arrangements will need to be made in advance for a responsible adult (18 years or older) to drive you home. You will not be allowed to drive for 24 hours following your procedure. Taxi and Uber services are not permitted, unless you have a responsible adult (18 years or older) accompanying you. Failure to make transportation arrangements will result in cancellation of your surgery.
Some medications such as aspirin, blood thinners, anti-inflammatories, or diabetic medications may be stopped prior to procedure. Your physician and the pre-op nurse will inform you if any of your medications should be stopped prior to your surgery.
To ensure a positive and safe experience, please read and follow all instructions provided by your physician and the office staff.
Notify your doctor if you become ill, develop a cough, fever, or change in health between now and your surgery.
General Instructions
DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY. This includes chewing gum, hard candy, tobacco, water and/or coffee; Smoking is also prohibited.
Wear something loose and comfortable that will allow you to change into and out of a gown easily. No spandex pants/shorts or tight fitted clothing.
You may brush your teeth the morning of your surgery as long as you do not swallow any toothpaste or water.
You will be instructed what medications, if any, to take the morning of your surgery. If you are unsure, bring your medications with you and we will inform you with what you can or cannot take.
Please bring Insulin and Inhalers with you to the surgery center. If you have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine or other assistive breathing devices at home, please bring it with you.
Please bring glasses, no contacts. If you have dentures please wear them.
Please do not wear make-up or artificial lashes for these can cause eye damage during the surgery or procedure.
Leave ALL valuables at home, including all jewelry and money. We are not responsible for damaged or lost property.
Your family should remain at the facility during your procedure and stay with you until discharge.
Insurance And Fees
We will verify your insurance; however, all quotes and estimate are subject to change depending on payment by your insurance company.
It is your responsibility to verify that we have your current and correct personal and insurance information.
We will collect all deductibles, co-payments, and out-of-pocket expenses for the center prior to your procedure.
We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Care Credit, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order. (Personal checks and cash over $100.00 are not accepted. Checks should be made payable to Daytime Outpatient Surgery Center)
Please note: You will receive separate bills from Daytime Outpatient Surgery Center, your surgeon, and the anesthesiologist. Professional services such as Durable Medical Equipment, laboratory, radiology or pathology will also be billed separately.
At Home After Surgery
You may feel sleepy, dizzy, and/or nauseated after your procedure, these are all possible and normal side effects of surgery and anesthesia (if given) and can last for 12-24 hours after your procedure.
Due to the anesthetic given, it is possible that you will experience some shaking or shivers. This is normal and will ware off by the end of the day. It is the body’s natural response to coming out of the anesthesia.
The anesthesiologist will give you the option to receive a nerve block which will numb the surgical site. If you choose to receive a nerve block it can last up until the following morning after your procedure. Any numbness or tingling 24 hours after will need to be informed to your physican or seek treatment at an urgent care facility.
You may notice a blue or orange discoloration of the skin around the operative site; this is the Chloraprep, an antimicrobial agent, used to clean the surgical site before operation. It is normal and will wash off when you are ready to shower. If you do feel that you are losing circulation please do not hesitate to call your physician or seek medical treatment.
You and/or a responsible adult will receive a copy of discharge instructions along with follow-up appointment time and date before leaving the facility.

Cash Option Pricing
In an effort to better serve our patients, Daytime Outpatient Surgery Center is proud to announce that we have created a pricing structure for a new cash option for our surgical procedures.
The prices for the medical procedures listed below include the facility fee, the surgeon’s fee and the anesthesiologist’s fee. The initial consultation with the surgeon is also included, as is uncomplicated follow-up care. The duration of postoperative care is different for each surgical procedure and may vary based on the patients’ specific needs. Therefore, your surgeon will inform you about the amount of postoperative care covered by the cash price during your initial consultation. The $250 initial consultation fee will be applied to the total cost of the procedure should surgery be indicated. If surgery is not indicated, the $250 will be retained by the surgeon as payment for your doctor consultation. A list of what is NOT included in the fee is as follows:
- Diagnostic studies necessary prior to the surgery such as lab work, MRI, X-rays, consultations with other specialists to determine medical risk/management, physical therapy and/or rehabilitation.
- Hardware or implants necessary for completion of the procedure (e.g. anchors, plates and screws for orthopedic procedures). This price of these items will be provided prior to surgery but subsequent to the initial surgical consultation. Our experienced surgical staff knows what will be needed to complete your surgery. The hardware or implants that you need will be provided to you at cost. We will not receive any profit from providing those items.
- Lodging and/or travel expenses.
- Expenses and/or fees resulting from complications subsequent to the completion of the surgery and discharge from our facility.
The medical procedures set forth below are only a partial listing of procedures available in this pricing model. If the procedure that you need is not listed below, please contact us to inquire about availability and pricing.
The prices quoted by our representative are not negotiable and are available only to those who pay the entire amount in advance. We are able to offer these prices due to the absence of risk for non-payment for services and the lack of expense in processing the claims. Alternative payment arrangements can be made with human resource departments within companies or divisions of self-insured entities if necessary.
Once again, if you are scheduled for surgery at our facility and private insurance or Medicare is to be filed by us, these prices do not apply to you.
